Scott Strange wins China Open

BEIJING, April 19 (UPI) -- Scott Strange rallied from a four-stroke deficit Sunday to win the European Tour's China Open golf tournament in Beijing with a closing 4-under-par 68.

His 72-hole total, 8-under 280, beat Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (72) by one stroke after starting tied for fifth place.

The Australian's fourth round included five birdies and a bogey at the par-4 12th hole for the second straight day.

He sank a 15-foot birdie putt at the 17th and parred the last hole to finish his second victory on the European Tour.

"I didn't tear the golf course apart, but I played the golf course the best way I could and produced a score which ended up winning," Strange said. "I didn't think I was leading until I holed that putt at the last."

Third-round leader Richard Finch (74) shared third place at 6-under 282 with Mark Brown (69) and Ashley Hall (71) at the Beijing CBD International Golf Club.
