MLB: Minnesota 3, Los Angeles Angels 1

MINNEAPOLIS, April 19 (UPI) -- Glen Perkins gave up an earned run and just four hits in eight innings Sunday to key the Minnesota Twins' 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Perkins (1-1) threw just 84 pitches before closer Joe Nathan recorded his third save by retiring the side in order in the top of the ninth, giving the Twins a three-game sweep of the Angels.

Carlos Gomez led Minnesota's 10-hit attack with three hits and one RBI. Jose Morales had two hits and one RBI and Denard Span had one hit and one RBI for the Twins, who have won four of their last six contests.

The only LA run came on an RBI groundout by Kendry Morales with no outs in the top of the second. Bobby Abreu had two of the four hits for the Angels, losers of four of five.

The losing pitcher was starter Shane Loux (0-1).
