Ainge hopitalized after heart attack

BOSTON, April 16 (UPI) -- Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge was hospitalized Thursday after suffering a mild heart attack, the team said.

The 50-year-old Ainge was "recovering nicely" at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to remain there for a few days, the team said.

WCVB-TV said Ainge woke up Thursday morning with chest pains and was rushed to hospital, where doctors had to insert a stent to unclog an artery that was 100 percent clogged.

"He was with his wife, Michelle, at the hospital," Celtics managing partner Stephen Pagliuca told the Boston Globe. "He was in good spirits. We're very grateful that Danny is progressing. Danny is a warrior (and) we hope to see him back soon because he's a big part of Celtics Nation."

The expected hospital stay means, Ainge, the 2007-08 NBA Executive of the Year, will miss the Celtics' playoff opener against Chicago Saturday.
