DETROIT, April 11 (UPI) -- Dustin Byfuglien scored the decisive goal on a penalty shot with 27.6 seconds left in regulation Saturday in the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-2 win over Detroit.
Niklas Hjalmarsson scored for Chicago and Valtteri Filppula got it back for the Red Wings in the first. Detroit went up 2-1 on a second-period goal by Henrik Zetterberg.
The Blackhawks tied it at 2-2 on a third-period goal by Ben Eager, setting up Byfuglien's last-minute heroics.
Byfuglien was awarded the penalty shot after he was hooked as he tried to get a shot off. His free shot got pasty Ty Conklin and then Andrew Ladd wrapped up the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:40.
Cristobal Huet went 21-of-23 in goal for Chicago.
Conklin stopped 22 shots for Detroit.
The Blackhawks have the fourth seed in the Western Conference. The Red Wings have the second seed.
