MLB: Oakland Athletics at LA Angels, ppd.

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 9 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Angels have postponed Thursday's game against Oakland in memory of pitcher Nick Adenhart, who died in a vehicle accident.

Adenhart, a starting pitcher for the Angels, was one of three people who died in a hit-and-run accident in which a minivan allegedly ran a red light and struck the car Adenhart was in. The 22-year-old right-hander died at a hospital several hours after the wreck.

Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig talked with Angels owner Arte Moreno and postponed Thursday's game.

"Major League Baseball is in mourning today upon the news of this tragedy that has taken Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two others," Selig said in a release. "Nick was just 22 years of age, with a wonderful life and career ahead of him."

No makeup date for Thursday's game was announced.
