MLB: Colorado 9, Arizona 2

PHOENIX, April 8 (UPI) -- Franklin Morales yielded an earned run and just six hits in six innings Wednesday, keying the Colorado Rockies' 9-2 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Morales (1-0) walked one batter and struck out six, and his effort helped the Rockies firmly end a string of eight losses in their previous nine contests at Arizona's Chase Field.

Fowler hit his first major league homer on the game's first pitch by Arizona starter and losing pitcher Doug Davis.

The Rockies hit six solo homers, the three others coming in their 9-8 season-opening victory on Monday.

Last season, they won just three of 18 contests against the Diamondbacks.

Arizona's Stephen Drew launched a first inning solo homer and Mark Reynolds also had one RBI.

In five innings, Davis (0-1) was tagged for four earned runs and four hits.
