OKLAHOMA CITY, March 30 (UPI) -- Whitney Hand had 22 points Sunday to lead Oklahoma past Pittsburgh 70-59 in the NCAA Women's Tournament Oklahoma City Regional.
Hand, a freshman, pulled down eight rebounds for the top-seeded Sooners (31-4), who advance to the Elite Eight, where they will play Purdue Tuesday. Ashley Paris had 12 points and 12 rebounds and her twin, Courtney Paris, finished with 10 points and nine boards for Oklahoma.
Shavonte Zellous led the fourth-seeded Panthers with 18 points.
With Hand scoring 17 of her team's first 32 points, the Sooners took a 41-32 lead at intermission. Oklahoma staged a 20-2 run in the second half and the Panthers (25-8) failed to advance past the Sweet 16 for a second consecutive year.
