Bowler with 2-handed style wins PBA title

WEST BABYLON, N.Y., March 29 (UPI) -- Australia's Jason Belmonte became the first player with a two-handed delivery to win a Professional Bowlers Association title Sunday in West Babylon, N.Y.

The 25-year-old Belmonte defeated Michael Fagan of Patchoque, N.Y., 215-201 for the championship in the Bowling Foundation Long Island Classic.

Belmonte inserts the middle two fingers of his right hand into the ball and uses his left hand to guide and spin the ball, giving him the ability to throw a strong hook. He said he developed his unusual style as a child when bowling balls were too heavy for him to roll with one hand.
