NHL: Nashville 3, San Jose 2

NASHVILLE, March 26 (UPI) -- Greg Zanon finished off a three-goal Nashville outburst in the second period Thursday that rallied the Predators to a 3-2 victory over San Jose.

Radek Bonk, Martin Erat and Zanon scored in a stretch of less than three minutes to overcome a 2-0 deficit and carry the Predators to a vital victory in their bid to make the playoffs.

Nashville began the evening tied with Minnesota for ninth place in the Western Conference, one point behind Edmonton in the race for the last post-season berth.

San Jose missed out on a chance to establish a franchise record for points in a season. The Sharks have 107 points, one shy of the mark they established last year.

San Jose also squandered a chance to move past Detroit for the best record in the Western Conference. The Sharks and Red Wings both have 107 points and both have eight regular-season games remaining.

Joe Pavelski scored a power-play goal in the first period and Devin Setoguchi added one in the second, giving the Sharks a good start in what would have been their seventh win over Nashville in their last eight meetings.

Bonk, however, started Nashville's comeback with a power-play goal 7:34 into the second.

Pekka Rinne made 29 saves to get the win. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 30 shots for the Sharks.
