Goosen notches 7th win on PGA Tour

PALM HARBOR, Fla., March 22 (UPI) -- Retief Goosen posted an 8-under-par 276 and won the Transitions Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla., Sunday by one stroke.

Goosen, a two-time U.S. Open champion from South Africa, carded a 1-under 70 in the final round.

Brett Quigley (68) and Charles Howell III (69) tied for second place at 7-under 277.

Goosen collected a check for $972,000 after his seventh win on the PGA Tour. He also won the Palm Harbor event in 2003.

"I played pretty solid today," Goosen said.

Mathew Goggin (67), Charlie Wi (69) and Steve Stricker (69) shared fourth place at 6-under 278 .
