ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 16 (UPI) -- Disgruntled quarterback Jay Cutler has informed the Denver Broncos he wants to be traded.

Cutler had his agent, Bus Cook, tell the Broncos Sunday he wants to leave the team, The Denver Post reported Monday. Cutler skipped a team meeting Monday with new Denver Coach Josh McDaniels.

Cutler has been unhappy since it became known that the Broncos tried to trade him to Tampa Bay in a deal that would have included New England and sent Patriots' quarterback Matt Cassel to Denver. McDaniel worked with Cassel in New England.

That deal fell through and Cassel was traded to Kansas City.

Cutler met with McDaniels on Saturday, telling ESPN. com afterward that McDaniel "made it clear he wants his own guy."

"At the end of the meeting, he wasn't like, 'Jay, I want you as our quarterback, you're our guy.' It felt like the opposite," he said to ESPN.com.

Cutler passed for 4,526 yards, 25 touchdowns and 18 interceptions last year. Since joining the Broncos in 2006, he's passed for 9,024 yards and 54 touchdowns with 37 interceptions.
