Xavier rolls at A-10 tournament

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., March 12 (UPI) -- B.J. Raymond's 18 points with four rebounds Thursday led 19th-ranked Xavier to a 66-47 quarterfinal win over Saint Louis in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

The regular-season champion Musketeers (25-6) will take on Temple in Friday's quarterfinals after the Owls knocked off Saint Joseph's 79-65. Duquesne and Dayton advanced in the evening quarterfinal contests.

Xavier bolted to an early 15-2 advantage, but Saint Louis closed to 26-23 with 5:06 left in the first half. The Musketeers rebuilt a 10-point advantage at intermission and opened the second half with a 7-0 run.

Temple, the tournament's fourth seed, got 19 points from Ryan Brooks to win its third straight game. Xavier defeated Temple by nine points in their only regular-season meeting.

Duquesne advanced to the semifinals by upsetting second-seeded Rhode Island 78-74 behind 20 points from Damian Saunders.

Dayton won its 26th game by fighting off Richmond in the last of the quarterfinals 69-64.
