BUFFALO, N.Y., March 6 (UPI) -- Tim Connolly scored in each of the first two periods Friday night and the Buffalo Sabres produced three power-play goals to run away from Phoenix 5-1.
The Sabres have won consecutive games for the first time in a month.
Buffalo took a 3-0 lead into the third period, but the Coyotes tried to start a comeback when Matthew Lombardi scored on the power-play 6:52 into the stanza. The Sabres, however, came up with goals 37 seconds apart from Jason Pominville and Drew Stafford to remove all doubt.
The Coyotes lost for the fourth time in five games.
Connolly scored the game's first goal 7:07 into the contest and scored on the power play with 5:43 left in the second period to make it 3-0.
Patrick Lalime made 29 saves to get the win.
Ilya Bryzgalov went 26-of-31 in goal for Phoenix.
