CALGARY, Alberta, March 4 (UPI) -- The Northwest Division-leading Calgary Flames acquired Phoenix forward Olli Jokinen before Wednesday's trading deadline expired.
The deal also included the Coyotes getting forwards Matthew Lombardi and Brandon Prust and a conditional first-round draft pick from the Flames.
Earlier, Calgary also obtained defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Colorado Avalanche in an effort to improve their blue line before April 15, the start of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.
Jokinen has 42 points (21 goals, 21 assists) in 57 games despite missing time in late November and early December with an upper-body injury.
The Finnish star has never skated in an NHL playoff game in his career in 780 NHL contests (11 years), and was being shopped by the cash-poor Coyotes with one year, $5.5 million left on his existing contract.
Prust (one goal, one assist) and Lombardi (nine goals, 21 assists) have combined for 32 points in 75 games.
