Devils get Havelid from Atlanta

ATLANTA, March 2 (UPI) -- The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Niclas Havelid from the Atlanta Thrashers Monday in a trade for defenseman Anssi Salmela and forward Myles Stoesz.

Havelid, 35, had two goals and 13 assists in 63 games this season for the Thrashers. In 613 career contests with Atlanta and Anaheim, the nine-year NHL veteran has 34 goals to go along with 133 assists.

Salmela, 24, had three assists in 17 games with New Jersey this season. He had eight goals and 16 assists in 38 games with Lowell of the American Hockey League.

Stoesz, 22, had four goals and three assists with 158 penalty minutes in 43 games this year with Gwinnett of the East Coast Hockey League.
