EAST LANSING, Mich., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Delvon Roe scored 16 points Wednesday and No. 9 Michigan State rode a solid effort from its bench to defeat Iowa 62-54.
The Spartans lead the Big Ten Conference by 1 1/2 games over Purdue, having won five of their last six games.
Korie Lucious led the Michigan State reserves, who outscored Iowa's bench players 30-7. Lucious scored 12 points while hitting 4-of-7 3-pointers.
Michigan State improved to 22-5 for the season and to 12-3 in the Big Ten. The Spartans won at Iowa by 15 points.
Jake Kelly paced the Hawkeyes (14-14, 4-11) with 20 points. Iowa was coming off an overtime win over Michigan on Sunday.
Michigan State saw its lead trimmed to five with 8 minutes to go, but Goran Suton and Roe teamed to make six straight free throws for a 54-43 advantage.
