SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 23 (UPI) -- NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley was sentenced to 10 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge in Arizona.

The charge was in connection with a Dec. 31 DUI arrest. The Arizona Republic reported Barkley, 45, will have five days of his jail sentence suspended if he completes an alcohol treatment program.

When he was arrested, Barkley's blood-alcohol level was reported to be .149, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Arizona.

Barkley took a leave of absence from his job as a basketball analyst with cable network TNT. He rejoined the "Inside the NBA" studio show last week, issuing an on-air apology for his DUI.
