Chandler trade to Oklahoma City rescinded

NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The New Orleans Hornets said Wednesday a trade that had sent center Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City has been rescinded.

The Oklahoma City medical staff failed to clear Chandler after his physical, so the deal announced Tuesday was called off.

Chandler had been sent to the Thunder in exchange for forward Joe Smith, center Chris Wilcox and the draft rights to center DeVon Hardin.

"We welcome Tyson back with open arms," said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. "We went into this trade to garner more front court depth to add to our team as we continue our push toward the playoffs. We expect Tyson and the rest of our big guys to step up to the challenge."

There was no reason given for why the Thunder rescinded the deal, but Chandler missed the final 12 games before the All-Star break due to a sprained left ankle.
