It was the lowest point total by far for both teams this season. Penn State won on Illinois' home court for the third straight season, marking the first time the Nittany Lions have won three consecutive road games against any Big Ten foe since joining the league in 1993.

Penn State held a one-point lead when Battle made two free throws with 16 seconds left. Demetri McCamey missed a 3-pointer for Illinois with 6 seconds remaining, after which Battle converted twice more from the line to account for the final score.

The Nittany Lions made just 28 percent of their field goal attempts and Illinois hit on 30 percent of its tries.

Battle scored 11 points to lead Penn State (19-8, 8-6 Big Ten). Chester Frazier and Trent Meachem had seven points each for the Illini (21-6, 9-5). Illinois had a three-game winning streak snapped.
