Stanford's win moves her to No. 6 ranking

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Angela Stanford improved two spots to sixth in the latest Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings released Monday.

Stanford went from eighth to sixth with her victory at the weekend SBS Open, beating Michelle Wie by three strokes.

The SBS Open kicked off the LPGA's 2009 schedule.

Wie, who won her LPGA card in qualifying school in December, jumped 149 spots in the rankings to 87th in the world with her runner-up finish.

Lorena Ochoa remained the world's top-ranked women's golfer, followed by, in order, Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Suzann Pettersen and Jiyai Shin.

Stanford's move to sixth pushed Helen Alfredsson and Cristie Kerr down one spot each to seventh and eighth, respectively. Karrie Webb, ranked ninth, and No. 10 Lee Seon-hwa held on to their previous rankings.
