Steelers' Reed cited for criminal mischief

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed has been cited by police after an alleged case of restroom rage in western Pennsylvania, authorities say.

Police issued summary citations for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief to the NFL kicker Saturday in Westmoreland County after Reed allegedly damaged a towel dispenser in a convenience store bathroom, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Sunday.

The 29-year-old kicker also allegedly cussed out a store employee, state police allege.

"Reed continued using profane language in a loud manner outside the store. Reed caused damage to a towel dispenser as he was infuriated at the fact that there were no towels in it," police alleged.

A Steelers spokesman said the NFL franchise had no comment other than to say the team was gathering information about the situation, the Post-Gazette reported.

Reed, part of the Steelers team that just won Super Bowl XLIII, was not available for comment.
