NHL: Philadelphia 5, New York Rangers 2

NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Philadelphia rookie Claude Giroux scored a goal and assisted on two others Sunday in a 5-2 Flyers win over the New York Rangers.

Giroux got the game's first goal in the first period and the Flyers fired in four more in the second, running up a 5-0 lead en route to the easy victory.

Mike Richards, Matt Carle, Mike Knuble and Glen Metropolit also scored for Philadelphia, which has won four of its last five games.

Lauri Korpikoski notched a goal late in the second period and Nikolai Zherdev scored in the third for the Rangers.

Philadelphia goalie Martin Biron was credited with 35 saves. New York's Henrik Lundqvist and Steve Valiquete combined for 19.
