NHL: St. Louis 4, Colorado 1

ST. LOUIS, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Brad Boyes had a goal and an assist Saturday night to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Boyes scored one of St. Louis' three goals in the second period after assisting on Keith Tkachuk's 16th goal at 4:20.

T.J. Oshie and David Perron scored St. Louis' other goals.

David Backes had two assists, while Chris Mason stopped 23 of 24 shots for the Blues, who have won five of their last eight games overall and three of their last four contests against the Avalanche.

Colorado averted a shutout when Chris Stewart scored his eighth goal this season at 11:56 of the first period.

Peter Budaj was beaten four times on 23 shots for the Avalanche, whose modest two-game winning streak ended.

Neither team scored on the power play on nine combined man-advantage opportunities.
