NHL: Detroit 5, Phoenix 4

DETROIT, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Nicklas Lidstrom scored on a power play with 39 seconds remaining in regulation Wednesday, giving Detroit a 5-4 victory over Phoenix.

Marian Hossa had two goals for the second straight game, helping lift the Red Wings to their second straight win after losing five in a row.

Henrik Zetterberg, who had missed three games with back spasms, also scored for Detroit. It was Zetterberg's first game since signing a 12-year contract, the longest deal in Red Wings history.

Lidstrom's winning goal came in his 1,300th game. His entire career has been spent with the Red Wings and last season he became the first European captain to lead his team to the Stanley Cup.

Ed Jovanovski and Joakim Lindstrom both had a goal and an assist for Phoenix, losers of five straight. The Coyotes' last win came Jan. 20 against Detroit.

Phoenix came back from a two-goal deficit in the third period and appeared to have forced overtime, but Lidstrom's blast deflected off the stick of defenseman Ken Klee and past Ilya Bryzgalov.
