TORONTO, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Kings defenseman Denis Gauthier was suspended five games without pay Monday for hitting Montreal's Josh Gorges in the head Saturday.
Gauthier was assessed a 5-minute major for charging and was given a game misconduct for the hit in the second period of Montreal's 4-3 victory.

Gauthier will forfeit $56,451.61, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Gauthier, who has two assists in 43 games this season, will not be eligible to return until Feb. 14 against Edmonton.
