EAST LANSING, Mich., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Talor Battle's career-high 29 points Sunday helped Penn State stun ninth-ranked Michigan State, 72-68, its first-ever victory in East Lansing.
Penn State trailed by double digits in the first half, but fought back to take a 38-37 halftime lead.
Battle's floater with 6:43 remaining gave Penn State a 68-56 lead, and a late Michigan State rally fizzled.
He sank 6-of-12 three-pointers.
Jamelle Cornley scored 16 with four rebounds, and Andrew Jones added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Nittany Lions (17-5, 6-3), who won their fourth straight game despite making only 8-of-17 foul shots, including 4-of-11 in the late stages.
They were 0-16 at East Lansing before Sunday's upset.
Kalin Lucas' 23 points, three rebounds and four assists led Michigan State.
Goran Suton and Chris Allen scored 11 points apiece for the Spartans (17-4, 7-2), who suffered their second straight home court loss.
