UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Yann Danis came within 93 seconds of his first shutout this season Saturday while backstopping the New York Islanders' 3-1 win over the Florida Panthers.
The only goal he would need was Mike Comrie's seventh (unassisted) at 18:34 of the first period.
Bill Guerin and Kyle Okposo (power play) both scored in the third, while Danis made 37 saves on 38 shots for the Islanders, equaled a season high with their third win in a row.
Gregory Campbell spoiled Danis's shutout by scoring his 10th goal this season at 18:33 of the third.
Netminder Tomas Vokoun was beaten three times on 30 shots for the Panthers, who were denied a third straight win.
On the power play, New York went 1-for-4, while Florida failed to score on its four man-advantage chances.
Florida had won seven of the previous 11 matchups between the teams, but has dropped five of six and nine of its last 12 in Uniondale.
