DENVER, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Jason Blake touched off a three-goal third-period outburst Thursday night that propelled the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 7-4 victory over Colorado.
It was the Maple Leafs' first win in Denver since 1997.
Toronto avoided what would have been its third five-game losing streak of the season in handing the Avalanche their third straight setback.
Colorado's John-Michael Liles made it a 4-4 game 3:10 into the third period with a slapshot, but Blake scored less than two minutes later to put Toronto back in front. Matt Stajan gave the Maple Leafs some insurance by scoring with 4:16 to play and Dominic Moore tacked on his second goal of the night with 1:57 remaining.
This was only the fourth Toronto trip to Denver since the Maple Leafs last won on the Avalanche's home ice.
Andrew Raycroft gave up all seven goals on 30 shots.
Vesa Toskala needed to make only 16 saves to get the win.
