UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The New York Islanders announced Tuesday that veteran center Mike Sillinger will miss the rest of the season after hip resurfacing surgery.
Sillinger, 37, had the procedure done Monday in New York.
It was his second surgery on the hip in the last year. He sat out the final 29 games of the 2007-08 campaign and the first 24 games of this season recovering from microfracture hip surgery.
Selected 11th overall by Detroit in the 1989 draft, Sillinger has 240 goals and 308 assists in 1,049 career games for 12 different NHL teams.
