COL BKB: Butler 64, Wright State 48

INDIANPOLIS, Ind., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Matt Howard scored 14 points Thursday in a balanced Butler attack that carried the 20th-ranked Bulldogs to a 64-48 win over Wright State.

Butler built a lead that reached 18 points and after Wright State trimmed the deficit to eight with 7 1/2 minutes left, the Bulldogs ran off nine straight points to put the game away.

Gordon Hayward had 12 points and Willie Veasley 11 in the fifth straight victory for Butler (13-1, 4-0 Horizon League).

Todd Brown scored 13 points for the Raiders (8-8, 2-3), who had won their previous six games.

Wright State hit only 33.3 percent of its field goal attempts.
