COL FB: Rutgers 29, N.C. State 23

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Mike Teel passed for 319 yards and two touchdowns Monday to give Rutgers a 29-23 win over North Carolina State in the Papajohns.com Bowl.

Teel completed 22-of-37 passes, including a 42-yarder to Ken Britt in the fourth quarter. Britt had 119 yards on six receptions for Rutgers (8-5), which had won its final six games of the regular season to appear in its fourth consecutive post-season game.

North Carolina State's Russell Wilson threw for 186 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-23 passing and added 46 yards on the ground in the opening half. A knee injury suffered in the second quarter kept him out of the second half.

Backup Harrison Beck did not complete any of his four pass attempts and was picked off before being pulled for Daniel Evans, who went just 5-for-12 passing for 82 yards and a touchdown. Evans also threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter for NC State (6-7).
