Innerhofer takes downhill; Miller is 4th

BORMIO, Italy, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Christof Innerhofer placed first and defending World Cup overall champion Bode Miller rallied to reach fourth place Sunday in a downhill race at Bormio, Italy.

Innerhofer, an Italian, started the final run in first and held his position.

Klaus Kroell of Austria was second and Michael Walchhofer of Austria third.

Miller, of the U.S. team, was penalized for missing a required pre-race ceremony. Because of the penalty, he had to start the last run in 46th place, at the back of the pack.
