SEATTLE, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- The Seahawks gave up a first-period field goal Sunday and then shut down Brett Favre and the New York Jets 13-3 on a snow-covered field in Seattle.

Trailing 3-0, Seattle took the lead with a 2-yard, second-quarter scoring pass from Seneca Wallace to John Carter and added a field goal by Olindo Mare in each of the last two quarters.

Wallace was 8-of-25 passing for 175 yards in Seattle's fourth win against 11 defeats this season.

Favre was 18-of-31 for 187 yards and was picked off twice.

Thomas Jones ran for 67 yards and Jericho Cotchery caught six passes for 81 yards for the Jets (9-6), who have lost three of their last four games and are a game behind New England and Miami, first-place co-holders in the AFC East.
