PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Manny Fernandez's 32 saves on 34 shots Saturday carried the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The win gave the Northeast Division-leading Bruins an NHL-high 50 points.
Marc Savard also scored, while Fernandez stopped 13-of-14 first-period shots for the Bruins, who have won four in a row.
Carolina's goals were scored by Joni Pitkanen (power play) in the first period, and Ray Whitney in the third.
Rod Brind'Amour had two assists and has a six-game assist streak.
Goalie Cam Ward surrendered three goals on 35 shots for the Hurricanes, who had won two in a row.
On the power play, Carolina went 1-for-3, and Boston failed to score on two chances.
