COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- R.J. Umberger's goal midway through overtime Wednesday lifted the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks.
It was the Blue Jackets' fifth straight victory on home ice.
Following a scoreless contest through two periods, San Jose's Devin Setoguchi scored at 3:41 of the third, and was matched at 12:32 by Michael Peca.
Umberger then scored his ninth goal this season at 2:55 of the extra session.
Overall, netminder Steve Mason was credited with 47 saves on 48 shots for the Blue Jackets, who had lost four of their previous six games.
Goalie Evgeni Nabokov made 30 saves on 32 shots for the Pacific Division-leading Sharks, whose three-game winning steak ended.
There were no power-play goals on eight combined man-advantage opportunities.
