NHL: Ottawa 3, Pittsburgh 2

OTTAWA, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Jason Spezza's second career hat trick Saturday boosted the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He scored all three goals in the second period and increased his total to 11 this season.

The first was a wrap-around shot across the goal line by the left post for a 1-0 Ottawa lead, 4:01 into the second period.

The second again beat Pittsburgh netminder Dany Sabourin at 8:52 of the second, and he completed the hat trick with 39 seconds left in the period.

Dany Heatley had two assists, while goaltender Alex Auld made 17 saves on 19 shots for the Senators, who have won two in a row and four of their last five games.

Jordan Staal and Evgeni Malkin (shorthanded) scored once each, while Sabourin was beaten three times on 31 shots for the Penguins, who went 1-1-1 during their three-game road trip.

On the power play, Pittsburgh went 1-for-2 and Ottawa went 0-for-1.
