COLUMBIA, Mo., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The University of Missouri signed football Coach Gary Pinkel Tuesday to a new seven-year contract through the 2015 season.

The contract will pay the 56-year-old coach $2.3 million annually, which includes a base salary of $350,000.

Pinkel, in his eighth season as head coach of the Tigers, has guided Missouri to a new level of success. Missouri won 12 games in 2007. The Tigers are 9-2 record this season. They have clinched the Big 12 North Division crown and will play in the conference title game on Dec. 6.

"Gary and his staff have done things that we haven't seen here in 40 years," said Missouri's Director of Athletics Mike Alden.

Pinkel is 131-76-3 overall in 18 seasons as a head coach. The Tigers have captured 30 of their last 39 games and their combined 21 victories over the last two seasons is tied for most in major college football in that span,
