WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Joe Tiller ended his college football coaching career Saturday with a resounding 62-10 win over Indiana.
Tiller finished his 12th season in West Lafayette as the Boilermakers' winningest football coach ever with 87 victories, including 10 bowl games in the previous 11 seasons.
He also guided the Boilermakers to the Rose Bowl, beat Notre Dame five times, and Saturday's 52-point victory was the largest winning margin in the 111-game history of the annual battle for the symbolic Old Oaken Bucket.
"All the breaks came our way today," a subdued Tiller told reporters. "I don't even think we punted, which might be a first for my coaching career."
In Tiller's last game, Purdue scored on its first 10 possessions, and quarterback Curtis Painter completed 38-of-54 passes for 448 yards and five touchdowns.
