With Chicago's Dave Bolland in the penalty box for hooking, McDonald one-timed a pass from Lee Stempniak past Nikolai Khabibulin for the game-winner.

David Perron and Cam Paddock also scored for the Blues and Manny Legace made 32 saves.

Khabibulin stopped 26 shots in the loss.

The Blackhawks have suffered four overtime losses at home this season, but have yet to lose in regulation on their own ice.

St. Louis had dropped six of the previous seven meetings with Chicago.
