NHL: Columbus 5, Edmonton 4

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Manny Malhotra scored the game-winner in a three-goal third period Wednesday, boosting the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

The veteran center scored his first goal this season at 18:51 of the third period after assists by Raffi Torres and Rick Nash.

During the third-period scoring spree, the Blue Jackets also got goals from R.J. Umberger and Fredrik Modin.

Torres and Jakub Voracek had two assists apiece, while goalie Steve Mason was beaten four times on 26 shots for the Blue Jackets, who ended a two-game skid.

Edmonton goals came from Andrew Cogliano (power play), Ethan Moreau (shorthanded), both in the second period, and Ales Hemsky and Kyle Brodziak in the third.

Goalie Dwayne Roloson surrendered five scores on 38 shots for the Oilers, who fell to 2-2-0 on their season-high seven-game road trip.

On the power play, Edmonton went 1-for-5 and Columbus was 1-for-6.
