NEW YORK, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Daniel Girardi scored the go-ahead goal with 6:27 remaining Thursday and the New York Rangers held on to defeat Atlanta 3-2.
The Rangers became the first team in the NHL this season to reach the 10-win mark. They set a franchise record in the fast-start category by winning 10 times in their first 13 contests and ran their current winning streak to four games.
Nikolai Zherdev and Markus Naslund also scored for New York, Paul Mara had two assists and Henrik Lundqvist recorded 27 saves. Naslund has a five-game points streak.
Atlanta lost its fifth straight. The Thrashers tied the game at 2-2 on a goal by Bryan Little with 9:32 left in the third period but the Rangers regained the lead when Girardi scored on a rebound against Kari Lehtonen.
