NHL: Washington 6, Dallas 5 (OT)

DALLAS, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Alexander Semin's goal at 2:17 of overtime Saturday night boosted the Washington Capitals to a 6-5 victory against the Dallas Stars.

Former Capital center Mike Modano created a 5-5 tie by scoring in the final 57 seconds in the third period.

Washington's Tomas Fleischmann and Sergei Fedorov scored twice and Tyler Sloan once. Semin added two assists, and goalie Jose Theodore was beaten five times on 33 Dallas shots, but helped the Capitals break a three-game losing streak.

Fedorov's first goal this season gave him 474 in his career, making him the highest-scoring Russian-born player in NHL history.

Four other Dallas players scored once. Modano added two assists and goalie Marty Turco yielded six goals on 30 shots for the Stars, who have dropped two of three.

Dallas has won five of the last eight contests between the teams, but Washington has won the last two meetings.
