Stupples takes second-round lead in China

HAIKOU, China, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Karen Stupples shot her second straight 5-under 67 Saturday to move into a two-stroke lead after the second round of the Grand China Air LPGA.

Stupples, the 2004 Women's British Open champion, finished 36 holes at 10-under 134.

First-round leader Laura Diaz bogeyed four of her last five holes for a one-over 73 to drop into second place at eight-under 136. Louise Friberg (69) is third at 137.

Shi Hyun Ahn (68), Christina Kim (68) and Candie Kung (69) share fourth place at 138.

There were two weather stoppages Saturday but neither ran longer than an hour. Heavy rain came in quickly and left almost as quickly and the entire field completed second-round play.
