COL FB: Georgia 24, Vanderbilt 14

ATHENS, Ga., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Knowshon Moreno rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown Saturday and ninth-ranked Georgia spurted to a 24-14 victory over No. 23 Vanderbilt.

His touchdown came on an 11-yard run that gave the Bulldogs an 21-7 advantage with 12:12 left in the third quarter. Moreno finished with 23 carries.

Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 13-of-23 passes for 194 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions as the Bulldogs improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Southeastern Conference. Caleb King added 40 yards on 11 carries to a rushing attack that accumulated 231 yards -- only 14 yards less than Vanderbilt's total offense.

Georgia won despite converting only 1-of-8 third-down opportunities.

Vanderbilt, which lost for the second week in a row, was led by quarterback Mackenzi Adams' 16-of-32 passing for 131 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Jamie Graham caught both Adams touchdown passes, but made only four receptions for 36 yards, and Jared Hawkins added 63 yards on 13 carries for the Commodores (5-2, 3-2).
