ZURICH, Switzerland, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Unseeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy stunned top-seeded Jelena Jankovic in Thursday's second round at the Zurich (Switzerland) Open tennis tournament.
The Brindisi, Italy, native recorded the biggest win in her career by rallying for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Jankovic, this season's women's runner-up at the U.S. Open, was seeking a fourth consecutive title after capturing tournaments at Moscow (Kremlin Cup), Beijing (China Open), and Stuttgart, Germany (Porsche Grand Prix) in the past three weeks.
The loss ended Jankovic's 12-match winning streak in Zurich.
"I didn't have any gas in the tank," Jankovic said after her earliest defeat this season.
The 23-year-old Jankovic fell in the first set and appeared to injure her left wrist.

No reason was disclosed.
Fifth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland lost 6-2, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 against Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik.
