WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Michael Nylander had a goal and two assists Monday when Washington defeated Vancouver 5-1.
Alexander Semin scored twice, Mike Green added a goal and an assist and Milan Jurcina also scored in the victory.
Washington goaltender Brent Johnson allowed just one goal on 10 shots against him, picking up his 100th career victory. The Washington defense set a franchise-best by holding Vancouver to 10 shots on goal. Washington had 35 shots on goal against two Vancouver goaltenders.
Roberto Luongo saved 20, allowing all five Washington goals, and Curtis Sanford turned aside all 10 shots he faced.
Alexander Edler scored the lone Canucks goal.
