Umpires announced for playoff series

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that 32-year veteran umpire Mike Reilly would be the crew chief for the National League Championship Series.

Reilly will be working in the playoffs for the 19th time. His umpiring crew will be made up of Mike Wingers, Gary Cederstrom, Jerry Meals, Ted Barrett and Mike Everitt.

The NLCS begins in Philadelphia Thursday with the Phillies playing host to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Tim McClelland will be the umpire in charge of the American League Championship Series when it begins Friday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

McClelland, working his 17th post-season series, will be joined by Derryl Cousins, Brian Gorman, Brian O'Nora, Alfonso Marquez and Sam Holbrook.

American League East rivals Boston and Tampa Bay will meet in the ALCS.
