MLB: Houston 5, Cincinnati 0

HOUSTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Randy Wolf combined with three relievers on a shutout Wednesday, keeping Houston alive in the playoff chase with a 5-0 victory over Cincinnati.

The Astros moved within 3 1/2 games of Milwaukee and the New York Mets in the race for the National League's wild card berth.

Wolf (12-12) gave up eight hits over 6 2/3 innings, but he struck out seven and left the game with the lead thanks to Lance Berkman's two-run homer in the first.

Humberto Quintero delivered a two-run single during Houston's three-run eighth.

Ramon Ramirez (1-1), making his fifth major league start, gave up two runs on four hits in five innings to take the loss.
