Former Nebraska back charged with murder

OMAHA, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Thunder Collins, a former University of Nebraska running back, has been charged with first degree murder in an alleged Omaha drug deal, police say.

Collins, 29, was accused of the fatal shooting of Timothy Thomas, 38, of Los Angeles during a struggle over a gun in an Omaha garage, officers said. He also was accused of attempted murder in the wounding of Marshall Turner, 26, Thomas' companion.

Police said Thomas and Turner drove to Omaha for a drug deal with Collins and another man, who fled after the shooting, the Omaha World-Herald said. A third man also was arrested.
