Eaks notches 4th Champions Tour win

CONOVER, N.C., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- R.W. Eaks repeated as the Greater Hickory Classic champion Sunday, winning the North Carolina event by four strokes.

Eaks, a four-time Champions Tour winner, closed with a 1-under-par 71 for a final score of 16-under 200. His four victories have come in a span of 14 months.


Tom Kite (67) and Tom Jenkins (75) totaled 204. Jenkins and Eaks had been tied for the lead at the start of the final round.

"I'm so fortunate to be able to play out here with these guys," said Eaks, who pocketed $255,000. "Every once in a while, they let me win a tournament."

Mark McNulty (69), Tom McKnight (70) and Mark Wiebe (71) tied for fourth place at 11-under 205.
